Court rejects plea against K-Electric privatisation.

KARACHI -- The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday rejected the petitions filed against the privatization of Karachi Electric (KE).

A two-member bench of the SHC comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Arshad Hussain heard a petition filed by KE labor union in 2005 against the government's decision to privatize the power utility.

The judgment was reserved by a two-judge bench of the SHC, after hearing arguments from both sides in 2017. The court while announcing its reserved verdict, stated that the process of privatization of the Karachi Electric was not illegal as the applicants failed to satisfy the court. Later, the court rejected the pleas of the K-Electric Labour Union.
