Court confirms PTI leaders' pre-arrest bail.

ISLAMABAD -- A local court on Monday confirmed the pre-arrest bail of PTI leaders as well as former interior minister in cases registered against them on charges of resorting to violence during May 25 long march.

The court accepted bail pleas of Asad Umar, Qasim Khan Suri, Faisal Javed, Pervez Khattak, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Shehryar Afridi, Sheraz Basharat, Raja Khurram Nawaz and Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.

District and Sessions Judge Kamran Basharat Mufti, while hearing the petition, was displeased with the fact that the accused did not join investigation in cases booked against them in different police stations and directed them to join the investigation.

The PTI's counsel argued before the court that the march was intended to record their protest as it was their constitutional right, adding that cases registered against the PTI leadership were politically motivated.
