Couple, infant killed as plaster of roof falls on them.

KARACHI -- A young couple and their infant son died when a piece of plaster of the roof of a flat fell on them in Gulistan-i-Jauhar late on Tuesday night, police and rescue officials said.

Area SHO Saleemullah Marwat said they were asleep in a room of the flat located on the fourth and last floor of a building in Block-7 when the plaster fell on them.

Area people and rescue services removed the debris and shifted the victims to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced as dead on arrival. They were identified as Alamgir Shaikh, 32, his wife Sheeza, 26, and their one-year-old son, Abdul Hadi. The deceased man was an engineer working at a private firm.

The officer said the victims' relatives told the police that they did not want any legal proceedings. Their bodies were taken in ambulances to their native place in Nawabshah for burial, said an Edhi spokesman.
