Colleges' conversion into varsities opposed.

SAHIWAL -- The Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PPLA), Sahiwal, has opposed the conversion of public colleges into autonomous universities.

A resolution by the PPLA, Sahiwal division, says they support the protest movement by the teachers of the Emerson College, Multan, against the change of the status of the college.

The PPLA meeting on the premises of the Sahiwal Postgraduate College on Friday said that instead of developing new universities, as promised by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government, public sector colleges were being converted into autonomous educational institutions.
