Cold wave continues across Punjab.

LAHORE -- The severe cold wave continued lashing the country on Friday as the dense fog covering the plain areas in Punjab once again blocked the sun from reaching them, keeping the maximum temperature closer to the lowest minimum temperatures of the season.

The winter is already harsher over the mountains where the minimum temperature is much lower than the sub-zero levels. It was -18 degrees C in Skardu, according to the Met Office.

Fog is also disrupting rail and road traffic across the plains of the country for the past many days, forcing closure of the motorway at many places. Travelling on city roads too is difficult and risky especially during the early hours of the day.

According to the Met Office, the minimum temperature in Lahore and Khanpur was 4 degrees C, Bhakkar 1, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur and Toba Tek Singh 2.5, Jhang 2.8, Sahiwal 3, Khanpur 4, Okara 3.5, Multan 3.8 and Gujranwala 5.6.
