CM wants food, drug authority operative by October.

LAHORE -- Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz has ordered to make the agriculture, food and drug authority functional by October.

'Substandard and contaminated food and adulterated medicines should not be the fate of the people,' he said while chairing a meeting here on Monday.

He directed the officials concerned to make the agriculture, food and drug authority functional by this October and warned that delays in the procurement of machinery and equipment would not be tolerated.

A steering committee had been formed for the recruitment process, he noted.

The CM said there was a need to put an end to the menace of adulterated food and medicines in the province.

He said the previous Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government played politics over the lives suffering from impure food and medicines and intentionally put this project of national importance on hold without any reason.
