CM seeks plan for housing, construction sector uplift.

PESHAWAR -- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Wednesday directed the relevant departments to develop a plan for the development of the housing and construction sectors to attract the private sector.

Chairing a meeting here, he also ordered necessary changes to the relevant bylaws, rules and regulations to make land purchase, building plan approval and other procedures involved in the private housing schemes easier and attractive for private sector investors.

The participants discussed ways to develop housing and construction sectors to create employment opportunities during the coronavirus pandemic.

They also reviewed matters related to legislation for tax exemptions granted to the construction industry during the current circumstances.

Says rights of investors to be protected

The meeting decided that measures would be taken to protect the rights of investors.

It also discussed the possibilities of extending loan facility to investors through banks and opportunities of public-private partnerships to develop housing sector in the province.

Meanwhile, the provincial government took notice of illegal construction on the bank of the Swat River and water and soil pollution caused by it.

The pollution issue came under discussion in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan here on Wednesday, said a statement.
