CM's aide promises action against inefficient officials.

MANSEHRA -- Adviser to the chief minister on culture and tourism Zafar Mehmood on Thursday said punitive action would be taken against officials not resolving the people's issues.

He told reporters here that the Election Commission of Pakistan had allowed the caretaker government to transfer officials until the schedule for the provincial assembly's elections was announced.

'Until the ECP notifies [PA's] election schedule, the caretaker chief minister and his cabinet members can reshuffle bureaucracy or notify officials as OSDs for bad performance,' he said.

Mr Mehmood said that he had warned heads and officials of the communication and works department, tehsil municipal administrations, National Highway Authority and other departments to complete development schemes by March 30 to prevent action.

The CM aide said that hurdles to development projects won't be tolerated and those responsible for it would also be dealt with strictly.
