CM, mayor visit crash site, issue necessary instructions.

KARACHI -- Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah along with his adviser Murtaza Wahab visited the plane crash spot, Kazimabad, subdivision of Model Colony, in district Korangi on Friday following the tragedy.

The deputy commissioner of Korangi, Shaharyar Memon, briefing the chief minister, said that the plane crash had damaged 12 to 15 houses in the area.

He told the CM that debris of the plane damaged several houses and fire broke out in some of the houses.

The CM was told that the fire had been extinguished and cooling procedure had been started.

The chief minister directed Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon and Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani to expedite the rescue operation. 'I want you to make all out efforts to save lives,' he told the officials.

Korangi DC says 12 to 15 houses affected by the crash

The chief minister directed the health department to declare emergency in hospitals and arrange blood and other required medicines apart from ensuring presence of senior doctors on duty.

Responding to a question, the chief minister was told that two passengers, including president of the Bank of Punjab, were rescued from the plane.

The chief minister was told that four houses were completely damaged and three women were rescued from there. It was also disclosed that bodies were also recovered from the damaged houses.

The chief minister appreciated the launching of rescue operation on the spot in time.

He appreciated the administration, police, Rangers, revenue officials and ambulance staff for their rescue work.

'I know you are fasting but even then your spirit is high in the rescue operation,' the CM said.

Mayor supervises rescue work

Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar immediately reached the site of the incident of plane crash and supervised the rescue work.

The mayor said that the crash was a big tragedy and many families had been affected and traumatised due to the incident, said a spokesperson for the KMC.

He expressed sorrow over the deaths in the crash and immediately declared emergency in KMC departments, including fire brigade, rescue unit and the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The fire engines, snorkels and bowsers of KMC immediately rushed to the spot and took part in the firefighting operation, on the directives of the mayor.
