Closure of CNG stations criticised.

RAWALPINDI -- Senior leader and central chairman of All Pakistan CNG Association Ghiyas Paracha on Friday expressed concerns over closure of CNG stations.

He said it would lead to further increase in gas prices as expensive LNG was being provided to the low tariff sectors.

Mr Paracha in a statement said CNG stations gave up cheap local gas and switched to expensive RLNG as they were assured continuity of supplies.

He said 1,100 CNG owners had deposited Rs1.2 million per station as an advance payment in order to ensure the continuous supply of gas. However, after they deposited billions of rupees in the government kitty, the CNG sector has been once again deprived of the imported gas whereas the same gas is being provided to the low tariff sectors.
