Civil society, political activists hold car rally for peace.

LAKKI MARWAT -- A group of social media activists known as Marwat Club took out a car rally in Lakki city on Sunday as part of efforts to promote peace and harmony in the district.

The activists, including Malik Waqar, Tahir Rashid, Habibur Rehman, Abdul Rashid, Farmanullah Advocate and others, organised the rally. The cavalcade passed through the city amid cheers of people standing on both sides of the road.

Former MPA Zafrullah Khan, former tehsil nazim Hidayatrullah Khan and other social and political activists participated in the car rally and termed such events inevitable for promotion of peace in the district.

They said unemployment, lack of education and poverty were the causes behind increase in crime rate, and urged people, especially youth, to use the social media as tool to overcome such problems.

CONDOLENCE REFERENCE: Literary bodies organised a condolence reference in Lakki city on Sunday to pay tribute to noted Pashto poet, Syed Zahoor Abbas Shah Afgar Bukhari, who was assassinated on Dec 11.

Senior writer and columnist, Salim Raz presided over the event, while Adabi Tehreek president Dr Abdullah was the chief guest.
