China ranks 2nd in world internet development in 2022: report.

ISLAMABAD -- China ranks second in the world in terms of internet development after the U.S, according to the latest industry report released on Thursday, which also details achievements of China's internet sector growth in the past year.

The Global Internet Development Index ranking was based on six parameters; infrastructure, innovation capacity, industrial development, internet application, cybersecurity and Internet governance, as outlined in the bluebook for the World Internet Conference (WIC) released.

The top 10 economies leading internet development this year are the U.S., China, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Canada, Finland and Denmark.

The bluebook consists of two separate reports - World Internet Development Report 2022 and China Internet Development Report 2022, which is compiled by Chinese Academy of Cyberspace Studies and has been released at the WIC for six years in a row. The 2022 WIC is now underway in Wuzhen, East China's Zhejiang Province, Global Times reported .

The bluebook also highlighted new progresses and achievements of China's internet development over the past year.
