Champion One clinches Snowfall Cup at KRC.

KARACHI -- Public fancy five-year-old dark bay horse Champion One lifted the Snowfall Cup imposing to fluent 12 lengths victory over chestnut horse Lahori Sayeen as four favourites obliged punters in a five-race card of the winter Gymkhana race meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Formerly Brave Champion, thoroughbred Champion One who was placed second behind Big Faith in the New Year Cup won as he pleased to open his season's account besides denying Lahori Sayeen to maintain a winning streak.

Owned by Haider Abbas and sent by trainer Shahid Mannan the victorious horse was piloted home by rider Tariq Baran.

Parachuter was pushed to third place edged by neck while Maradona completed the frame further beaten by eight lengths among seven starters.

The race was also feature event of the day.

However, in a neck-and-neck run mare Dazzling Diva made amends of last two loses of the year galloping to a length-and-a-quarter victory over bay horse Piyara Faisal to clinch the next race which was supporting event.

The owner-trained Dazzling Diva picked up momentum in home stretch to post remarkable victory.

Royal Fort and Artemisia followed in the same order in a pack of five horses.

Two other favourites who returned victorious were bay horsea Zorawar and Cracks Man.

Zorawar outpaced Darshan by three lengths while Cracks Man gets the better of Faster Than You by eight lengths.

At the outset, No Try with no form worth, came up with a length-and-a-half victory over mare Dance And Dance to annex the opening race.

Seasoned rider Zaki Zakir narrowly missed a rare honour of second place finishes in the entire five-race card when he had to be content with third slot in the third race on his mount Soldier Queen. The quartet that comprised Dance And Dance, Darshan, Lahori Sayeen and Piyara Faisal finished second with Zakir astride.
