Chakesar popular for juicy oranges.

SHANGLA -- The Chakesar tehsil of Shangla district in becoming popular with producing highly delicious citrus fruit.

Idress Khan, who recently bought an orchard of citrus fruit for Rs300,000, said he also bought an orchard in Shang area, but that orange was not as tasty and delicious as the one from the orchards in Chakesar area. 'Commuters stop by and buy the fruit from the stalls set up along the Chakesar road in Gunangar area,' he added.

Shad Mohammad, a buyer while enjoying the citrus fruit, said the Gunangar oranges were more tasty and delicious than the others produced in the district. He said he along with his three friends had come to Chakesar to enjoy the red-blood fruit.

Shaukat Ali, an orchard owner, said he had grown 800 orange trees, of which about 100 had started bearing fruit, which he had sold out to a buyer. He said a friend of his having expertise in agriculture, had suggested that he grew citrus fruit on his land to get huge profits.
