Chakdara road landowners demand compensation.

LOWER DIR -- A local jirga has demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to pay compensation for the land used up for construction of the Chakdara Bypass Road.

Adenzai Islahi Jirga president Khwaja Faizul Ghafoor accompanied by landowners, including Dilawar Khan, Shah Azam, Manzoor Khan, Mian Syed Nabi and others, made the demand while speaking at a news conference at the Chakdara Press Club here on Monday.

The landowners said they had given their land for construction of the road, but had not been compensated as yet. They demanded of local MPA Humayun Khan, the deputy commissioner and the Adenzai assistant commissioner to take up their demand with the provincial government, or they would move court.

The landowners also demanded an investigation into the irregularities in construction of the bypass road. They asked the communication and works and irrigation departments to mark the limits of the streams from Asbanr to the Fishing Hut.
