LAHORE -- Chairperson Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) Uzma Adil Khan should step down from her post, if she is unable to discharge her duties, remarked Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan, while hearing a case related to petroleum products shortage in country on Wednesday.
Chief Justice LHC remarked that the OGRA has destroyed the country. Chief Justice LHC said that Chairperson OGRA is destroying the country but no one has taken action against her and federal cabinet instead of taking action against her has formed a committee so that she could be given protection. Chief Justice LHC Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan remarked that Chairperson OGRA has turned 65 years and now she should have to quit this position and give chance to someone else.
During the hearing IG Punjab Police, home secretary Punjab and secretary petroleum appeared before the court. However Chairperson OGRA did not appear before the court.
The CJ LHC showed his resentment as the chairperson OGRA did not appear before the court despite summons on the last hearing. Chief justice LHC rejected the exemption plea from appearance in court filed by chairperson OGRA. Chief justice LHC said that where is chairperson OGRA, why she did not appear in the court. The legal advisor informed the court that the chairperson OGRA did not appear in the court due to fears of coronavirs spread. Chief Justice LHC Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan said that prima facie it looks that she is the blue eyed of some higher personality and I feel she is blue eyed officer of prime minister and due to this reason no action is being taken against her.
