CDWP approves seven projects worth Rs26.1bn.

ISLAMABAD -- The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Wednesday approved seven projects worth Rs26.1 billion and recommended three projects worth Rs52.2 billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for consideration. The CDWP meeting, which was presided over by Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, deliberated upon various projects related to energy devolution and area development, transport and communication, physical planning and housing and water resources. Two projects related to energy devolution and area development were presented during the meeting. The first project titled 'Bajour Area Development Project', worth Rs861.917 million, was approved by CDWP.

The main objective of the project is to eliminate poppy cultivation by providing alternate livelihood facilities to the people of the area; construction of rural roads will also make the area accessible to political administration. The...
