CDA to pursue review petition against restoration of plot for hotel.

ISLAMABAD -- The Capital Development Authority's Board on Wednesday decided to pursue the review petition it had filed in the Supreme Court against the restoration of plot meant for a luxury hotel.

The CDA board met at its headquarters with Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed in the chair.

The civic agency had cancelled the lease of 13.5 acre land to M/s BNP in July 2016 due to a number of violations and irregularities.

The Supreme Court in January this year, after setting aside an Islamabad High Court (IHC) order in this matter, restored the lease, directing the private firm to pay the civic agency Rs17.5 billion in eight years.

The IHC had upheld the cancellation of the lease and directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to proceed against the officials responsible for leasing the land and relaxing rules and extending favours to the company in post-bid changes.

The company had challenged the high court's decision before an SC bench led by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.
