CDA de-notifies upgrades, promotions of 41 officials.

ISLAMABAD -- The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Thursday de-notified the promotions of 37 officers and four non-gazetted officials.

After approval from Chairman CDA Amer Ali Ahmed, CDA's human resource department has issued notifications in this regard.

'On the recommendation of an inquiry committee and subsequent approval of the CDA chairman, we have de-notified 41 officials who got unauthorised upgradation and promotions,' CDA spokesperson Mazhar Hussain told Dawn on Thursday.

He said that notifications were issued on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) a few years ago also registered an FIR against 34 officials whose upgrades and subsequent promotions were carried out in violation of the authority's rules and regulations.

Sources said that three inquiries have been conducted so far, but it regularly transpired that officials were upgraded on the basis of choice instead of through any legal procedures.

They said 1,068 CDA employees were upgraded years ago and inquiries revealed that most of them were upgraded and promoted on the basis of pick-and-choose.

Last year, it was decided that a third and final inquiry will be conducted before action is taken against illegally upgraded and promoted officials.

They said that the third inquiry examined only 86 cases and recommended the demotion of 41 officers and officials.
