CDA mulling to organise weekly car bazaar.

ISLAMABAD -- The city managers are mulling to set up a weekly car bazaar, possibly on the right of way of Srinagar Highway to facilitate the sale and purchase of vehicles.

Currently, there is no such official facility in Islamabad, but people do a small-scale sale-and-purchase business in G-8 and G-9 Markaz on Sundays.

However, a weekly bazaar takes place on Friday on Murree Road in Rawalpindi while on Sunday a major bazaar is set up in Taxila.

A senior officer of the CDA said that the civic agency was planning to set up a weekly bazaar along the Srinagar Highway short of Tarnol.

'We have a huge acquired land on both sides of Srinagar Highway which could be used for the weekly bazaar,' the officer said, adding that in the next a couple of days the site will be finalised.

The officer said that the bazaar will be held once in a week, likely on Sunday. 'We are also looking into another aspect, as our weekly bazaar at H-9, which is also located at the length of Srinagar Highway, is also held on Sunday or some other day. Therefore, we will have to look into traffic issues before finalising the day,' the official said.

Another officer said Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) will be taken on board before starting the bazaar and their due recommendations will be taken about traffic management issues. He said that the facility will be completely temporary one and will...
