CDA asks building owners make places friendly for disabled persons.

ISLAMABAD -- The Capital Development Authority (CDA), to facilitate the special persons by making all public places disabled friendly, has given two months time to owners / occupants of public and commercial buildings to complete all such requirements in their respective premises as per regulations. In order to ensure safe and easy access to persons with disabilities, the CDA was taking immediate measures for implementation of Islamabad Residential Sectors Zoning (Building Control) Regulations 2005. It would help to make all public places / buildings in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) disabled friendly through provision of necessary infrastructure including ramps, lifts, toilets, said a press release issued here on Sunday. According to the regulations, provision of following facilities for special persons were mandatory in all public and commercial buildings, minimum one toilet in all commercial, public buildings and plots for apartments / flats buildings and such toilet should be of a size to accommodate a person on wheel chair.
