CCPO urges Ulema to play role for promotion of religious harmony.

LAHORE -- Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Lahore Additional IG Ghulam Mehmood Dogar has stressed upon the need for creating religious harmony, forging unity among the people of different groups, sects and beliefs to ensure maintenance of permanent peace and solidarity in the metropolis.

CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mehmood Dogar said that it was dire need of the hour to foil nefarious designs of anti-state elements, adding that love and fraternity should be promoted among various sects.

He was presiding over an important meeting of members of the Central Executive District Peace Committee at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh on Thursday. Ghulam Mehmood Dogar said that security arrangements made by Police during important sacred events could only be proved successful with integrated efforts and the mutual cooperation of Ulema-e -Karam along with civil society. Interfaith harmony, brotherhood and tolerance are necessary to overcome the present challenges of extremism and acts of terrorism by making coordinated efforts for sustainable peace, CCPO Lahore added.

DIG Investigation Sharuiq Jamal, DIG Operations Ashfaq Ahmad Khan, SSP Investigation Abdul Ghaffar Qaisarani, SSP Operations Ahsan Saif Ullah, SP Security Sardar Mavarhan Khan, members of the Peace Committee including Moulana Muhammad Ali Naqshbandi, Hafiz Hafeez Ahmad, Sardar Tahir Dogar , Syed Khurram Abbas Naqvi, Syed Mehndi Shah,Moulana Hafiz Ashraf, Hafiz Muhammad Zubair, Abdul Waheed Roparri, Eng. Muhammad Imran, Agha Shah Hussain Qazalbash and other members of DPC attended the meeting. CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mehmood Dogar asked the Ulema-e-Karam to play effective role for promotion of religious harmony throughout the year including sacred events of different sects.

Dogar asked Ulema-e-Karam to extend full support to the Lahore Police in its efforts for elimination of extremisms in the society. He appreciated different proposals and suggestions from Ulema to ensure peace in the city and said that he is available to every member of DPC and his doors are always open for any guidance and support to the Ulema in any emergency and untoward situation.

He stressed to streamline effective and regular coordination between the members of Peace Committee and other stakeholders including Lahore Police to ensure maintenance of peace.
