Case against 50 cops quashed hours after registration.

KASUR -- A criminal case lodged on the orders of the Lahore High Court (LHC) against 50 police officials, including five SHOs of Pattoki circle police, was quashed a few hours after it was lodged on Friday.

The police officials were booked over the charges of abuse of power, trespassing on a house, extending death threats and forcible search of the house of a senior lawyer. On the same day, police cancelled the case, terming it baseless.

Police chief Zahid Marwat said the case was lodged just for the compliance of LHC orders.

Earlier, police had set aside the orders of a local court.

According to complainant Muhammad Mukhtar advocate, at least 50 police officials, including SHO Saddar Phoolnagar Latif Gujjar, SHO Sarai Mughal Abdul Jabbar, SHO City Phoolnagar Nasarullah Bhatti, SHO City Pattoki Malik Tariq, SHO Saddar Pattoki Zaheer Shah, raided his house on April 15.
