Capital police slash officers' fuel limit.

ISLAMABAD -- The capital police have slashed the fuel limit of its senior officers but spared the chief.

Other austerity measures taken by the police include a limit on the use of generators. Besides, meetings will be held online.

An order issued from the office of the inspector general of police (IGP) stated that keeping in view the economic conditions and availability of resources and budget constraints, austerity measures are recommended with the approval of the police chief.

Under the order, the fuel limit for the deputy inspectors general of police except for the DIG operations, was fixed at 250 litres per month followed by 200 litres for assistant inspectors general of police, 200 litres for SSPs, excluding the SSP operations and traffic, 175 litres for SP and assistant/deputy superintendents of police.

Field formations, including operations and security divisions, Safe City, Special Branch, counter-terrorism department and traffic will utilise fuel as per their operational requirements.

However, the use must be justified and strictly according to the requirements.

Rationalised utilisation of fuel of vehicles may be approved from the DIG headquarters, the order said, adding any additional requirement of fuel for operational duty shall be considered and approved by the head of the respective division.

Non-operational use of fuel must be thoroughly monitored and any illegal, unjustified and excessive use must be curbed. The fuel limits for motorcycles issued to formations for official purpose will not be more than 65 litres per month.

'Immediate and strict compliance is requested and divisional heads are requested to take necessary action accordingly,' it added.
