Canada gifts bulletproof jackets, helmets to police.

PESHAWAR -- The Canadian government on Tuesday gifted 500 bulletproof jackets and helmets to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police.

According to an official statement, the bulletproof jackets and helmets were handed over by Canadian High Commissioner in Pakistan Ms Wendly Glimour to IG police Dr Naeem Khan at a function held at the Chief Minister's House here.

The event was organised under the aegis of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC), where provincial minister for information Shaukat Yousufzai, law minister Sultan Mohammad and other officials also spoke.

The Canadian high commissioner appreciated the efforts Pakistan had made against the menace of terrorism and for restoration of peace.

On the occasion, the information minister said the government was fully determined to maintain peaceful atmosphere in the country and strengthen tourism. He said Pakistan had great potential for religious tourism.
