Call to withdraw increase in oil, electricity prices.

LAHORE -- Electricity workers have demanded the government withdraw increase in prices of petrol, diesel, electricity and gas.

At a conference held at Bakhtiar Labour Hall here on Monday and presided over by union president Abdul Latif Nizamani, it was also demanded that fresh recruitments should be made to prevent tragic accidents due to the field staff shortage.

Addressing the workers, union secretary general Khurshid Ahmad appealed to all political parties to make efforts to get rid the country of the foreign debt.

He also called for introducing national economic self-reliance policy to tackle growing unemployment and poverty.
