Breast screening centre at LGH.

LAHORE -- A state-of-the-art breast screening centre was inaugurated by First Lady Samina Arif Alvi at the Lahore General Hospital (LGH) on Monday.

Begum Alvi was given a briefing by Postgraduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Dr Al-Fareed Zafar on departments of the hospital.

She said if diagnosed and treated at an early stage, more than 90pc of breast cancer patients could recover and mortality rate could also be reduced. She said about 90,000 to 100,000 women were being diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the country and about 50pc of them died due to delay in diagnosis and treatment.
