Bowlers give Sindh another victory in Quaid Trophy.

KARACHI -- Sindh won their third match at the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy when they beat Southern Punjab by 202 runs in the seventh-round match at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

The other two matches of the round - between Central Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and BalochiAstan and Northern - ended in draws.

With three more rounds to go, Sindh have consolidated their position in second place of the Trophy standings and only seven points separate them from Northern at the top. Both sides have won three matches.

After setting Southern Punjab a 346-run target on the final day, Sindh bowled them out for 143, thanks to a three-wicket performance by pacer Mohammad Umar.

Six of the remaining wickets were equally shared by fast bowlers Ghulam MudaAssar and Asif Mehmood and leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed while Southern Punjab's Azam Khan fell to a run-out.

Usman Salahuddin was Southern Punjab's top-scorer with 67.

At the LCCA Ground in Lahore, Khyber PakhtunAkhwa were 120-1 by the end of the match against Central Punjab, who had posted a first-innings total of 471. Waqar Ahmed and Israrullah scored half-centuries for the defending champions.

There was no play between Balochistan and Northern due to rain at the Abbotabad Cricket Stadium.
