Senate Body Directs Pc to Resolve Water Shortage in Gwadar

Sub committee of Senate Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs asked Planning Commission to resolve issue of water shortage in Gwadar, Balochistan.

Speaking in the meeting of Committee, held with Sardar Fateh Muhammad Muhammad Hassani in the chair, Senator Kalsoom Parveen said that despite of focusing on the development of Gwadar by the government, the water shortage still existed there.

She asked that the government had launched the schemes to resolve the issues but unfortunately, none major scheme had been completed so far to address the issue.

Member of PC, Lt. General (R) Shahid Niaz said that the project of desalination was launched with the cost of Rs.1.1 billion in 2008 and now it would be completed by 2012.

The no any other project can resolve the shortage of water in Gwadar except supply of water from Mirani Dam, said Senator Hamayun Khan Mandokhel while speaking on the occasion.
