Barang tehsil short of basic facilities.

BAJAUR -- People of Barang tehsil here on Friday demanded of the government and district administration to take tangible steps for ensuring provision of basic facilities in the region.

They said that government schools and the rural health centre in the tehsil were short of staff and key facilities while the area people had been facing shortage of drinking water.

They were speaking during an open kutcheri arranged by the administration at Kamala Dara locality. Senior officials of the line departments and district administration, including assistant commissioner Habibullah Khan Wazir, attended the event.

The residents told the officials that Barang was a remote and mountainous region rich with minerals and natural resources, but still it was the most backward and neglected area of the district.

They said the government and the local administration had always ignored the region in development schemes. They said the area lacked proper health, education and communication facilities.

The elders noted that it was the third open kutcheri held by the administration in the region during last two years, but they did not witness any visible change in their lives.
