Bajaur poets get assistance for publishing their works.

KHAR -- As many as 24 poets in Bajaur tribal district received cheques of financial assistance provided by the provincial government for publishing their works here on Friday.

Deputy commissioner Usman Mehsud distributed the cheques among the poets at a function arranged by Bajaur Cultural Association in collaboration with Bajaur culture and sports department here.

It was the first such initiative for the poets in Bajaur from the provincial ministry of culture and tourism where cheques of Rs50,000 each were given to the poets for publishing their books.

Officials of the district administration, culture and tourism department, poets and writers attended the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Mehsud said that the government was committed to promoting literary and cultural activities in the merged tribal districts.
