Bajaur college students protest delay in scholarships.

KHAR -- The students of Government Degree College, Nawagai, on Tuesday demonstrated against non-payment of scholarships to them.

Chanting slogans against the high-ups of the ministry of Safron, local lawmakers and directorate of education, the protesting students marched from their college and gathered outside the PTI MNA Gul Dad Khan's residence on the main Khar-Peshawar Road, blocking the artery for several hours.

The protesters said the federal government-funded annual scholarships for the students of the merged districts were not given to the students of the Nawagai college. They said the scholarships were usually awarded till first week of May every year.

They said such scholarships had already been awarded to the students of government college of management sciences and government college of technology in Bajaur about five months ago.

The protesters said Rs6,000 paid under the scholarship programme was sufficient for the poor students to manage their expenses of books, shoes and uniforms.
