Baitul Maal Council formation challenged.

LAHORE -- A petition filed in the Lahore High Court on Saturday challenged the formation of Punjab Baitul Maal Council, for having most of its 15 members from the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

A lawyer, Mian Dawood, assailed the council's composition through a public interest petition, pleading that 11 non-official members of the council were PTI office-bearers.

The petitioner stated that the Punjab Baitul Maal had a total annual budget of Rs100 million and the new management requested for its enhancement up to Rs1 million, allegedly to put the funds under the control of 'illegally appointed' council members.

He pointed out that the respondent members, including Malik Azam, Iqbal Saqib, Iqbal Khan and Ms Fozia Abbas had been PTI office-bearer.
