Athletics Federation to hold two national C'ships in Sept, Oct.

ISLAMABAD -- The Athletics Federation of Pakistan would be holding two national championships in September and October this year.

'The plan for holding the championships was prepared and approved in the recent General Council meeting of Athletics Federation of Pakistan held in Lahore, which was attended by all affiliated members,' Athletics Federation of Pakistan President Major General (Retd) Muhammad Akram Sahi told reporter.

He said the 5th National Youth and Junior Athletics Championship would be played in September while the 50th National Athletics Championship would take place in October.

'Pakistan Army and Wapda will defend the men's and women's titles in the championship, respectively,' he said.

Sahi said a total of 14 teams would feature in the championship including Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Navy, Wapda, Railways, Police, Higher Education Commission (HEC), Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

He said Athletics Federation of Pakistan would utilize resources for the promotion of athletics in the country and at the same time the federation would also strengthen the women's wing.
