At least 19 persons including Commissioner Makran Division killed in four separate accidents in different areas of country.

LAYYAH/KALAT/KANDHKOT/SIALKOT -- At least 19 persons were killed and several others injured including Commissioner Makran Division Captain (Retd) Tariq Zehri in four different road accidents occurred in Layyah, Kalat, Kandhkot and Sialkot on Friday.

Eight laborers were killed and 13 others were injured on Friday morning after a pickup truck crashed in Layyah's Peer Jaggi, near Chak No, 164 TDA. Five laborers were killed on the spot while 16 others were injured. Later on three injured laborers succumbed to injuries during treatment in District Headquarters Hospital Layyah.

Five killed laborers have been identified as 50 years old Ghulam Farid son of Allah Divaia, 40 years old Ghulam Hussain son of Allah Divaia, 28 years old Muhammad Rafique son of Ghulam Sarwar, 52 years old Saifullah son of Khadim and Khadim son of Luqman.

The police said the accident occurred because of speeding. Five critically injured laborers were referred to Nishtar Hispital Multan.

Meanwhile in a tragic incident, four persons were killed when a truck carrying stones overturned and fell onto their car in Kandhkot on Friday.

The incident happened due to the bad condition of the road near Rano Stop in Sindh's Kashmore district, rescue sources said.

The fully-loaded truck rolled over and landed on top of a car, resulting in the deaths of four people on the spot. The rescue teams rushed to the scene and taken out the bodies from the car by turning a truck upright and removing it from the four-door passenger vehicle.
