Artists asked to instill creative spirit in students.

PESHAWAR -- Speakers at a paintings exhibition have asked senior artists to trigger a creative urge in students through their art.

The exhibition was arranged at City University of Science and Information Technology (CUSIT) here the other day by National Artists Association of Pakistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, in collaboration with department of architecture. A large number of young artists, teachers, students and art lovers attended the event.

About 22 artists of the province were given awards and commendation shields for their best artworks. More than 100 artworks of 56 senior artists including that of legendary artists -- Ismail Gulji and Ghani Khan -- hailing from different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were displayed at the one-day paintings exhibition.

The exhibition showcased artworks in three categories -- calligraphy, sculpture and paintings.

Prof Mian Ijazul Hasan, noted artist and head of the association, chaired the event.

He said that senior artists should craft images to motivate a spirit for creative ideas among generation, especially students. He said that KP was known for its material heritage and praised for its distinctive cultural traditions.

The senior artist said that KP being a rich soil had always produced artists, performers, poets and musicians. He said that KP artists had great creative potential in them and his organisation would provide assistance to the budding artists.

Mehran Iskandaryan, the director general of Khan-i- Farhang Iran, Peshawar, who was chief guest on the occasion, said that artists should be appreciated for their creative faculties because they crafted the best images out of the universe...
