Art and infinity.

KARACHI -- How do you read someone else's mind? Some would say that mind readers easily do that. Is it right, though? If it were that easy, everybody would know what the other was thinking. Writers and artists over the centuries have tried to achieve that goal by coming up with techniques that can provide the reader/viewer with an idea about a person's innermost thoughts whey s/he's not expressing them.

In writing, soliloquies and interior monologues are used, and in art painters and sculptors create visuals that depict the ceaseless commotion going on within an individual. An example is a show of striking installations titled Infinity and Beyond made by Mashhood Ali Talpur that can be seen at the Art Chowk Gallery.

This is quite a special exhibition of creativity. Talpur does not invite you into his world, or the world of the 'others' that he wants you to visit, but lures you by virtue of his remarkable artworks that give off a cerebral vibe rare in our local art scene. How about having a go at getting to know him first?
