Around 796 elected members of HMC to take oaths in Hyderabad.

HYDERABAD -- As many as 796 elected members of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) will take the oaths of office at the

ceremonies which will take place at 9 separate venues in Hyderabad on May 22.

According to the statistics of the elected members shared by the election authorities here on Sunday, the oaths would be taken for 159 seats of Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the Union Committees (UCs) of HMC and 637 seats of General Members Wards.

Among the elected members, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is far ahead of other parties, having secured 100 seats of Chairmen and Vice Chairmen out of the total of 160 seats.

The party would also easily elect its mayor for the HMC.

The PPP is followed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which had won 41 seats of Chairmen and Vice Chairmen.

Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) secured 2 seats and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) only one while 15 seats went to the independent candidates who would have to join any party sitting in the HMC.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) had boycotted the local government elections which were held on January 15.
