Arms smuggling bid foiled, ammunition seized.

DERA GHAZI KHAN -- Police busted a gang of smugglers and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition, claimed District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Akmal.

Addressing the media here, the DPO said strict arrangements were made for checking at inter-district checkposts to thwart the nefarious plans of terrorists.

Saddar Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police Ejaz Ahmed Bukhari, Darahma Station House Officer Ehsanul Haque and their teams foiled the smuggling of arms. During the operation, the Darahma police seized a large cache of arms, including 80 pistols with 160 magazines, four repeaters with 13 magazines and more than 23,000 bullets, among other ammunition.

A case was registered against suspects Shahid, Zahid and Umar Farooq and they were being interrogated.

WHEAT STOCK SEIZED: Under the supervision of the deputy director (food), a team led by District Food Controller Mehr Akhtar Hussain seized 700 sacks of wheat stored in two warehouses of Farooq Ahmad Shan of Nawan Shahr adjacent to Choti Zaireen and sealed the properties.
