Archaeology dept organising book fair.

ISLAMABAD -- The Department of Archaeology and Museums (DOAM) is hosting the first ever book fair of all its publications from Dec 25.

'The book fair coincides with the birth celebrations of the founder of Pakistan on Dec 25,' said Museum Director Dr Ghafoor Lone.

The publication section of DOAM will present a catalogue of Quaid-i-Azam's relics besides more than 80 national and international publications.

There are some 10,000 copies, the subjects of the publications vary from Stone Age, Indus civilisation, Buddhist art of Gandhara, Islamic architecture while Sikhism, Hinduism, Persian, Bangali, Arabic, English, Urdu, Japanese, Korean, French and Italian transcripts will also be available.

After the emergence of Pakistan in 1947, DOAM published its first Journal of Pakistan Archaeology in 1964. Almost all of the journals published till 2018 are available. The collection includes different survey reports of Sindh, Punjab and KP, said Dr Lone.

He said there was unique publication titled Banbhore, which was published in Persian, Arabic, Urdu, Bangala and English languages. There are a lot of publications that reflect on the then East Pakistan archaeology and its activities.
