Anti-polio drive begins in Taxila.

TAXILA -- A three-day anti-polio campaign began here on Tuesday with an aim to vaccinate over 8,000 children against the disease.

Punjab Assembly member Ammar Sadeeq Khan inaugurated the campaign by administrating anti-polio drops to a child at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Faheem, Chief Officer Fazale Akbar and Deputy District Health Officer Dr Sarah Qadeer were also present on the occasion.

MPA Ammar Sadeeq Khan said: 'Pakistan is one of the only two countries in the world alongside Afghanistan where poliovirus continues to circulate actively.'

He urged citizens, particularly parents, to come forward and play their role for the elimination of the crippling disease.
