ANP asks govt to restore student unions.

PESHAWAR -- The Awami National Party has appreciated the role played by students in creating political awareness in new generation and urged the government to restore student unions in educational institutions for holding elections democratically.

Addressing a seminar titled 'student unions and role of Pakhtun Students Federation' on the second day of Bacha Khan Week and centenary celebrations of Anjuman Islah-i-Afghania, ANP central general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that majority of politicians who had played role in student unions were now leading the country.

Referring to the services rendered by Bacha Khan and Abdul Wali Khan for welfare of Pakhtuns, Mr Hussain said they had truly guided the people and informed them about future challenges. He said the ban on student unions was not in favour of the nation and the country.
