Akhtar Mengal announces to break alliance with PTI citing reason that agreement signed with his party was not implemented by govt.

ISLAMABAD -- Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) Chief Sardar Muhammad Akhtar Jan Mengal has announced to break alliance with the PTI citing the reason that the agreement signed with his party was not implemented by the government.

He made the announcement in the National Assembly on Wednesday whilst participating in the discussion on the budget for next fiscal year.

'Today, I announce in the Parliament the separation from PTI's alliance,' said Mangal. However, he clarified that they will continue to be part of the National Assembly and keep talking about their problems.

Akhtar Mengal said that BNP supported the government in the election of the president, prime minister, Speaker, Deputy Speaker. "Despite oppositions' criticism we supported federal government in the budget what did we get in return", he added. It is unfortunate that there is no one here to hear our voices", he said.

Akhtar Mengal said that his party has waited for two years but no one has bothered to pay attention to their demands despite fully supporting the government in previous budget.

He said that PTI had signed two agreements at the time of government formation after the 2018 General Elections and later during the presidential elections, but not a single point of the accord was implemented. We will stay in the Parliament and will keep raising the issues, he added.

He said the problems of Balochistan should be addressed and it should be given due share in the development. Akhtar Mengal regretted the cut made in the share of provinces in the National Finance Commission as well as the annual PSDP. He said the locusts have badly damaged crops in thirty two districts of Balochistan. He said consequences could be dire if effective steps were not taken to control the crop munching pests.
