Ajoka budding artists to stage play today.

LAHORE -- A play 'Aimna' by Ajoka will be staged at the Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture (PILAC) on Thursday.

The actors from Ajoka Institute's 'Art of Acting' course will stage the play.

The play is directed by Nirvaan Nadeem and written by Zainab Yousaf, an upcoming writer. It is based on a lighthearted script about memories of maid 'Aimna' played by Ishrat Shaheen. The cast includes Ishrat Shaheen, Elsa Shabeer, Komal Bhatti, Faheem Khan, Fahad and Sajjad.

Nirvaan Nadeem said the play highlights the talent and skills of Ajoka's acting and writing class students who have worked passionately for their maiden performance. The writer has developed the story under the guidance of Shahid Nadeem and it is full of interesting scenes and dialogues.

Ajoka is nurturing the new talent in the field of acting, writing, anchoring and dance. The main objective of Ajoka institute is to provide necessary trainings in short courses so that actors can learn the basic techniques and polish their skills under the guidance of qualified and experienced faculty and artists.

Exhibition: A paintings exhibition titled 'Frozen Frame' by known artist, filmmaker and writer Mumtaz Hussain opened at the Alhamra Arts Centre, The Mall, here on Wednesday.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Punjab information minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan who was flanked by Lahore Arts Council (LAC) Executive Director Athar Ali Khan. LAC Board of Governors chairperson Moneeza Hashmi also attended the art show.

The minister appreciated the paintings by Mr Hussain, while LAC executive director said these art pieces depicted well the contemporary cityscapes and were reflective of history, culture and civilisation.

On the occasion, Hussain said he wanted to display his artworks at Alhamra for the public because it was a vibrant cultural institution. He appreciated LAC for its efforts for the promotion of art and culture.

Earlier, US Consul General Mr Brian Heath also visited the exhibition and expressed his appreciation for the artist's work.
