AJK government to hold spring gala in Mirpur from 17th.

MUZAFFARABADS -- A senior official of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government on Tuesday assigned responsibilities to different departments for the successful holding of a four-day spring gala in the lakeside city of Mirpur.

Named as 'Jashn-e-Baharan,' the festival will start from Friday (March 17) under the aegis of the AJK Tourism Department in collaboration with the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Commission.

The festivity would not only spotlight the beauty of the southern districts of the state in springtime but also the local culture, arts and crafts, she added.

The meeting was attended among others by AJK's secretary for Kashmir cause, arts and languages Aijaz Ahmed Lone and senior officers of the tourism, forests, agriculture and sports, youth and culture departments as well as the head of the Kashmir Cultural Academy.

It was decided at the meeting that the tourism department would play the lead role to make the festival a success through coordination with other departments concerned.

According to the allocated jobs, the sports department would organize different sporting events over the four days of the festival, including javelin throw competition and all Pakistan volleyball tournament.
