AJK bent upon to encourage quality journalism in the State: AJK DGPR.

MIRPUR (AJK) -- AJK-based national and state press is being furnished with due modern facilities for performance of professional duties, said Raja Azhar Iqbal Director General Public Relations of Azad Jammu Kashmir here on Sunday.

Addressing the oath taking ceremony of newly-elected office bearers of Kashmir Press Club here on Sunday he said media has complete liberty in AJK and added that state information department was playing its role of a bridge between journalism and government. 'There is no liking, disliking for journalists before the government, he underlined.

He said that promotion of quality journalism in AJK, harmonious to the need of the modern age, was one of the top priorities of the State government in the greater interests of all dimensions including the Kashmir cause atop.

He said the working journalists, associated with print and electronic media are being encouraged by the government through due fcilities for the performance of their professional duties in conducive environment, he added.

Azhar said that since his department was taking all possible due steps for the welfare of journalists, efforts were afoot to make AJK Press Foundation self reliant financially.

He lamented that certain elements, in the name of journalism, were found involved in negative, immoral and unlawful activities through social media by uploading videos, audios, interviews on facebook accounts, whatsapp groups, and illegal web tv, websites of tv and news channels, which he warned, were against the integrity and stability of the...
