AIOU's Centre of Excellence urged to play role in reforming society.

ISLAMABAD -- Minister for Education and Professional Training Rana Tanveer Hussain on Wednesday said a harmonious society could only be formed on the virtues of patience, forgiveness and generosity.

Speaking at the inaugural session of a two-day National Seerat Writers Conference at the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Mr Hussain welcomed the formation of three chairs at the university.

He said the centre of excellence at the AIOU should play a constructive role in reforming the society and was hopeful this forum would impart values of patience, forgiveness and generosity in the society at large.

The minister praised the contribution of the AIOU in imparting vocational and teacher training, adding that there was a dire need to write more books on the Seerat of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
