APROPOS the article 'Back to Afghan peace talks?' (Oct 16) Pakistan needs to play its cards wisely and ensure that we have no favourites, nor intervene on behalf of one side or the other.

Furthermore, Islamabad must not forget the root cause of terrorism in our blessed country. Terrorism reared its head when a dictator dragged Pakistan to side with the Americans supporting Afghans fighting the Soviet Union. Once the Soviets were defeated the Americans left Pakistan alone to face the consequences.
