Aerial, ground spray pushes locusts across border.

BAHAWALPUR -- A massive aerial and ground spray of pesticides in Cholistan forced the large swarms of the locust to move to Rajasthan area across the India-Pakistan border away from the Bahawalpur division.

The locust had attacked the Cholistan yesterday, coming from the area of Yazman where it had settied for the night. These swarms had travelled from Uch Sharif via Khangah Sharif and Bahawalpur threatening to attack the Cholistan land where the teams of Cholistan Development Authority (CDA) werealready in action to carry out the spray. An aircraft of the federal government was also ready for the last several days at the Bahawalpur airporttostartthe spray.

CDA focal person Imtiaz Lashari toldDawnby phone the two ground teams, equipped with vehicles and adequate stock of pesticides, carried out the spray around Derawar and Boharwala Toba while the federal government`s aircraft did the aerial spray over Geaderwala Toba.
