Addicts nabbed by Swabi police sent to rehab centre.

SWABI -- About 32 drug addicts detained by police were shifted to drug rehabilitation centre with the consent of their families here on Friday.

These addicts were rounded up during operations conductedby the police in various areas after complaints were lodged against them by the people that they were involved in theft cases.

District police officer Najamul Hussain said that officials of the social welfare department and district administration also took part in the operation to nab the addicts and drug dealers.

The families of addicts also agreed to send them to the rehabilitation centre in the district so that they could be saved from this curse through proper treatment.

The DPO said that the DSPs and SHOs along with police teams conducted the operations. He said 39 cases were registered against drug dealers across the district while 44 suspects were detained.

DSP headquarters Nural Amin said the campaign was aimed at bringing the addicts to normal life.
